At The Schenck School, we are constructing two building additions to
the existing structure and extensively renovating all of the
existing facilities on site. The new construction consists of a
structural steel frame with concrete slabs on metal decking with
pre-engineered wood trusses and a shingle roofing system. The
exterior veneer consists of stone veneer and hardi plank siding with
custom aluminum clad wood windows. The new interior spaces will be
used for classrooms, laboratories and gathering spaces as well as
administrative areas and all maintenance and support facilities.
One of the most challenging aspects of this project is the fact that
we are tying into the existing building which must remain in
operation throughout the entire construction process. After the new
addition is complete, the entire existing facility must be
demolished down to its bare structure and completely rebuilt over
the summer of 2007. In order to accomplish this, we are planning for
and extensively scheduling all activities during the upcoming summer
renovation. |
